This website uses no analytics or tracking tools, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no embedded social media content and no newsletter. The typefaces (Hippo Hand, Lineal) are delivered together with the website; no requests are sent to font providers.

Personal data is processed in three cases only: by the host when the website is accessed (section 3), when you submit the contact form (section 5) and when you write an email (section 6). A technically necessary cookie may be set for the language choice (section 4).

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. With every request, your browser necessarily transmits data to Vercel's servers, where it is processed in logs (log files):

• IP address
• date and time of access
• requested address (URL) and response status code
• referrer URL (the previously visited page), if your browser sends it
• browser type, browser version and operating system (user agent)

The purpose is to deliver the website and to ensure its stability and security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in providing the website securely and in working order. This data is not combined with other data.

Data may be transferred to the USA in the process. According to Vercel's privacy policy, Vercel acts as a processor for the data on its customers' websites, is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission, Art. 45 GDPR) and uses the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where required (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

How long Vercel stores the log files is determined by Vercel. Vercel's privacy policy:

This website sets at most one cookie: “NEXT_LOCALE”. It stores only the chosen language (“de” or “en”) so that the website shows you that language the next time you open an address without a language code. It is set only when you open a language that differs from your browser's language setting, or when you switch language after it has already been set. It is a session cookie that is normally deleted when you close the browser. It contains no identifier and is sent only to this website.

The cookie is strictly necessary to provide the service you have requested, the display in the chosen language. Consent is therefore not required under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act). Insofar as personal data is processed, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

No other cookies, local storage or comparable techniques are used. You can delete or block cookies in your browser at any time; the website remains fully usable.

When you submit the contact form, your name, your email address and your message are processed.

Name, email address and message are required, because your enquiry cannot be answered otherwise. The data is used only to handle your enquiry and for the follow-up communication.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR insofar as your enquiry is aimed at a contract or pre-contractual measures, otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in answering your enquiry.

Sending by email

When you submit the form, your browser transmits the form data to the server of this website, which is hosted by Vercel (section 3). The server forwards it as an email to website@studiohippo.de through the mail server of Hostinger (section 6). No other service is involved. The website itself does not store the form data; it remains in the mailbox described in section 6.

The legal basis is the one stated above: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR.

When you write an email to website@studiohippo.de or submit the contact form, your name, your message and your email address are stored in the mailbox. The mailbox is provided by Hostinger International Ltd, 61 Lordou Vironos str., 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR, as described in section 5.

Hostinger states that it also processes data on servers outside the EU and bases transfers to third countries on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). Hostinger's privacy policy:

Enquiries and email correspondence are deleted once the enquiry has been fully handled and no further communication is expected. If an enquiry leads to a commission, the documents required for it are kept for as long as statutory retention obligations, in particular under tax law, require.

Log files are stored by Vercel according to its own rules (section 3). The language cookie is normally deleted when you close the browser.

This website uses TLS encryption (recognisable by “https://” in the address bar). Data you transmit via the website therefore cannot be read by third parties.

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20). An email to website@studiohippo.de is enough to make a request.

Right to object: insofar as processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you may object to it at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR).

No automated decision-making, including profiling (Art. 22 GDPR), takes place.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is:
